How the scoring works
The AI Readiness Assessment measures how prepared an organization is to use AI safely and get value from it. Here is exactly how your answers turn into the scores in your report.
The six areas
Every question belongs to one of six areas:
- Strategy and Leadership
- Governance and Policy
- AI Tools and Access
- Skills and Literacy
- Data
- Use Cases and Value
How answers are scored
Each question has five answers, ordered from least to most ready. They score 1 to 5, and that is scaled to 0 to 100: the first answer is 0, then 25, 50, 75, and the fifth answer is 100.
An area score is the average of its questions. Your overall score is the average of the six area scores, so every area counts equally.
Readiness levels
The same levels apply to your overall score and to each area.
| Level | Score |
|---|---|
| Getting Started | 0 to 39 |
| Developing | 40 to 59 |
| Scaling | 60 to 79 |
| Leading | 80 to 100 |
The AI Readiness Matrix
The matrix places you on two axes. Foundations is the average of Governance and Policy, AI Tools and Access, and Data. Adoption and Value is the average of Strategy and Leadership, Skills and Literacy, and Use Cases and Value. A score of 50 or more on an axis puts you in its upper half, which gives four quadrants: Experimenting, Building Foundations, Adopting Ahead of Guardrails and Scaling Value.
The Peers marker is a kovac.ai estimate for your industry and company size. Once an industry has 25 real submissions, the marker switches to the real average for that industry. Test, internal and sample entries are never counted. Comparisons such as "Higher than X% of organizations" appear only under the same rule.
Where statistics come from
The personalized analysis may quote research figures. These come only from a curated list of published sources that kovac.ai reviews and keeps up to date. Every figure must match one of those sources; if none fits, the report shows no statistic rather than an estimate.
How your data is used
Your answers are scored on our server and used to prepare your report, to follow up about your results, and in anonymous totals such as industry averages. We never sell your information. Read the full Privacy Policy.
